Leggett & Platt is well positioned to meet the challenges of reducing our global carbon footprint. In 2008, the company launched an international energy data acquisition initiative that will enable us to identify opportunities where we can reduce GHG emissions.
- Over 40% of Leggett’s U.S. electric consumption is produced from nuclear energy; twice the national average
- Over 70% of Leggett’s Canadian electric consumption is produced by nuclear energy and hydro power
- Leggett operates branches in 15 states that have passed mandatory Renewable Portfolio Standards. Approximately 15% of the company’s U.S. electric consumption will be supplied by renewable energy under these standards
- Leggett has established a corporate sourcing protocol for Green-e certified renewable energy credits, and the company purchased its first RECs in 2009.
